Hun Sen Meets with Timor-Leste’s Minister of Tourism

PHNOM PENH: Following a meeting with outgoing EU Ambassador Maria del Carmen Moreno on the morning of August 29, former Prime Minister Hun Sen met with Timor-Leste’s Minister of Tourism and Environment, Francisco Kalbuadi Lay.

Hun Sen said that Kalbuadi Lay’s visit will boost ties between their two countries. He reminded the foreign minister that he was the only ASEAN leader to visit Timor-Leste in order to strengthen their bid to become ASEAN’s 11th member.

Kalbuadi Lay congratulated Hun Sen as the President of the Cambodian People’s Party, who secured a landslide victory in last month’s election, allowing them to establish a new administration under his son, Prime Minister Hun Manet. He thanked former Prime Minister Hun Sen for his vital support in Timor-Leste’s ASEAN membership when Cambodia chaired the summit in 2022. He thanked Hun Sen for his solidarity with Timor-Leste and invited the former prime minister for a visit at his convenience.
